Terms and Conditions of the Atlantic Academy Rheinland-Pfalz

By registering for an event with the Atlantic Academy (from here on AA) a contract between you and the AA comes into being. The terms and conditions of the AA become part of this contract. Previous versions lose their validity. If not stated otherwise by law, Kaiserslautern is the place of jurisdiction.

Detailed individual programs accompany each event invite of the AA. They include detailed information about the course of the event, about the recruited speakers, fees, and methods of payment. We reserve the right to make changes in the original schedule, for example due to unforeseen circumstances or short-term cancellations by speakers.

Participation fees for our seminars are usually due prior to the seminar. These fees include all services related to the program and, if applicable, room and board. Accommodation takes place in double bedrooms in local hotels or in equally furnished conference venues. Occupancy of a single bedroom is possible for a surcharge. Discounts are available if no rooms are utilized. Reduced fees are available for students and trainees.

For all AA events, registration has to take place in written form via mail, fax, email or online on the AA website. After receiving a confirmation email all written registrations are binding. Cancellations can usually be made free of charge up to 14 days prior to the beginning of an event. If participants fail to appear or fail to cancel within the required time frame, the AA will charge them the full amount for room and board. For long-term seminars, the cancellation fees and policies laid out in the specific program apply.

AA seminars are supported by public funds. To verify the proper use of these earmarked funds, the AA must transfer personal data (name, address, age, profession) of all participants to the institutions providing the funding. By registering, participants agree to disclose this data and consent to its transfer. The AA abides by the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Changes

Not all events can be executed as planned. We thus reserve the right to make changes to the program schedule and regarding the speakers. These changes will be announced prior to the event in a timely manner.

Input

The AA is eager to please the varied interests of all citizens with its continuing education program. We are always thankful for input and suggestions for improvement. Your constructive criticism will be taken seriously.

Recordings and photographs

Due to our legitimate interest we take photos and recordings of our events which we also use for advertising purposes.

AA events are often recorded on film and pictures are taken at these events. If the contracting party does not wish his/her photos or recordings to be published, he/she must immediately inform AA staff. If he/she fails to inform AA staff about not wanting to be recorded or photographed, it is assumed that he/she agrees to the publication free of charge and that all rights regarding the recording or/and photograph will pass to the AA.

Photographs are used for the AA’s press and public relations work and are displayed on the official AA website www.atlantische-akademie.de or on social media (for example, but not limited to, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram). Please contact the AA staff in case you wish to have specific photos removed.

Liability

Participating in the events of the AA takes place at your own risk. In case of personal injuries, material damage, pecuniary loss or other forms of loss, the AA is only liable if intent or gross negligence by the AA or one of its employees can be proven. Liability for actions by a third-party according to §§276, 278 BGB is excluded as long as no legal regulations substantiate it. All participants and speakers are required to do everything in their power to avoid disruptions and damages, to rectify disruptions/damages or to keep disruptions/damages to a minimum. The AA must be immediately notified of potential damages. Liability claims due to mild negligence towards the AA are limited in their amount to the participation fee. The AA is not liable for cases of loss, theft or accidents within its event locations.
