Description:

President Donald Trump continues to dominate the political landscape of the United States with reports of unlawful deportations, the circumvention of court rulings, and the fueling of further polarization across society. His influence shapes both the national conversation and the actions of political institutions, raising concerns about the strength of democratic norms and public accountability. As Trump and the Republican Party occupy the spotlight, how is the political opposition responding?

In this talk, transatlantic expert Sarah Wagner from the Atlantic Academy will provide an overview of the Democratic Party’s current position in a political system in which traditional checks and balances appear increasingly fragile. She will examine the party’s internal debates on strategy and messaging, discuss implications for marginalized communities, and outline potential opportunities and challenges Democrats may face in the years to come.
