Description:

Bryan Arias is an acclaimed choreographer and dancer from New York City who will be accompanying his partner Alba Castillo in Kaiserslautern to support their production of the dance show "The Red Thread," that will have its world premiere at the Pfalztheater in October. During a talk in the theater lobby, Bryan will give insights into his career in dance and choreography inside and outside of the USA and answer questions from the audience before taking us backstage to attend an exclusive open rehearsal of his and Alba's upcoming dance show.

About the show:

According to a Japanese legend (The Red String of Fate), there is an invisible red thread that flows out from our pinkie into the world. As we move through life, our invisible thread intertwines with other red threads, influencing our decisions and affecting the ways in which we connect to other people. In their interpretation, choreographers Alba Castillo and Bryan Arias wish to combine this legend with the story of The Little Red Riding Hood, exploring womanhood in today's society while referencing the origin and true meaning of the story. The legend of The Red String of Fate will serve as a way to connect the nonlinear storyline style of the performance, while the color red will function as a means to examine themes of love, loss of innocence, and mortality.

In our new event series, Sounds of America, we dive into the world of music and dance. Our guests are artists from the United States who give insights into the culture of American music and art with concerts, dance performances, and talks.
