On May 25, 2018, the new EU data protection legislation, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) , takes effect. The new regulation not only affects businesses and private citizens, but also non-profit organizations such as the Atlantic Academy.
Here at the Atlantic Academy, we value your data privacy and we have thoroughly considered the issue of data privacy and the new legal regulations. Our data acquisition and processing as well as our documentation of personal data (for example name, address, email, phone number) are designed in accordance with the GDPR.
Our adaptation of the GDPR
Before the collection of any data, users of our website and potential participants of our events are being informed via our privacy policy and our general terms and conditions of business about the type, extent and purpose of the personal data that we collect, use and process. For this, we have created a “double opt in” process if you contact the Atlantic Academy, register for events, register for our newsletter, buy books from our publication series or if you apply for membership.
Consent given before May 25, 2018
In accordance with recital 171 of the GDPR as well as with the resolution of the “Düssseldorfer Kreis” from September 14, 2016 (in German), consent given by users and participants before May 25, 2018, continues to be valid.
Right of revocation
One of the aims of the GDPR is to strengthen the rights of citizens within the EU to substantiate and to implement their right of self-determination regarding personal data.
Your constitutional right in this regard also includes your right to determine with whom you get in contact, with whom you exchange knowledge and experiences and who can use your personal data such as name, address, email, phone number etc.
