Description:

Climate phenomena such as droughts, floods, and storms currently take on more dramatic dimensions across the States and in Europe. The latest scientific findings reported by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) clearly demonstrate that the negative impacts of climate change are increasingly posing a serious risk to ecosystems, food production and the attainment of sustainable development. How to deal with these issues is not only a technical or economic question but has very much become a divisive cultural issue, particularly in the United States. And yet, there are emerging efforts to heal these divisions. We will discuss these problems and workable solutions on the first conference day.

On the second day, you will learn how you and your school can get involved in the intercultural blended-learning platform project “Going Green – Education for Sustainability”. In addition to offering the regular extended curriculum again in the current and next school years, we are featuring a project week addressing renewable energies from a science and cultural studies perspective.

We cordially invite you to this teacher training conference for discussing current issues of climate protection and exploring the resources provided by “Going Green – Education for Sustainability”.
