Threatening the foundation of the United States' climate laws, the new Trump administration is seeking to roll back restrictions on air and water pollution as well as relinquish the Environmental Protection Agency's mandate to act on climate change under the Clean Air Act. Moreover, President Trump has once again vowed to withdraw from the Paris Climate Agreement. What will the future of environmental politics look like under the Trump administration and how will state and civil-society groups work to promote climate protection? In this guest lecture, Dr. Sarah Surak (Salisbury University, USA) will address the future of environmental politics in the United States. Her talk will focus on the president's role in defining environmental priorities and the resulting impact on national and international policy. She will also discuss how state and local initiatives may be sources of leadership in environmental action for the upcoming four years.
