As part of our ongoing series of events on entrepreneurship, we welcomed New York University scholar Melissa S. Fisher to our luncheon titled “Chances and Challenges for Female Entrepreneurs in the New Digital Workforce”. The author of Wall Street Women introduced the audience to her research and outlined existing obstacles in the career paths of many women. She presented Women’s Professional Organizations such as Ellevate Network, The Springboard Consultancy and WE NYC, which are dedicated to ensuring diversity and inclusiveness in the digital space and upholding work and family balance.
A lively Q&A session following the presentation demonstrated the topicality of the subject and revealed that women often feel frustrated having to function within a system of social constraints and having to cope with failure. Therefore, it is important to act consciously in the existing systems of power, gender, race and ethnicity and to not fear frustration.
The Atlantic Academy, the Economic Development Agency Kaiserslautern, the U.S. Consulate General Frankfurt, the American-German Business Club, Welcome to Rheinland-Pfalz, the Gründungsbüro TU & HS Kaiserslautern, and Gründungslotse Kaiserslautern thank Professor Fisher for her inspiring and encouraging talk today and are looking forward to the next Brown Bag luncheon.
